My Responsibilities: Explore > Define > Design > Develop
Client: Group M, Hyper Island
Process: We were divided into 8 groups, each consisting of 5-6 team members. The group leaders held several meetings and collectively decided to create a 3D artist group responsible for developing a 3D model of Hyper Island before each group embarked on their own projects. My specific task was to create the shell of Hyper Island within a 10-day timeframe. Throughout this assignment, I encountered significant challenges with time management and optimization.
To achieve the 3D modeling, I used Maya and 3D Substance Painter for texturing. In an effort to save time, I created custom smart materials in 3D Substance Painter and applied them to objects with similar materials. However, at that time, I wasn't familiar with the process of baking high mesh to a normal map. As a result, for optimization purposes, I had to delete all invisible sides of the mesh to simplify the model. After completing this task, I returned to my group and continued creating 3D objects that we needed for our group.

Define: We made the decision to use the cafeteria as our development stage on the platform VR Chat and presented the idea to our stakeholder, Sara, using the following summary: "Explore Hyper Islands Cafeteria in an exquisite new virtual way with many different mini-interactions to play around with."
After presenting the idea, we received valuable feedback from Sara, who shared insights on what could be beneficial for next year's students to utilize. In response to Sara's valuable input, we made the decision to create a small virtual stage that would serve as a platform for future students to deliver presentations or attend lectures in a virtual environment.

Develop: We integrated all the 3d objects created by the 3d artist team into the game engine Unity. While the developers were working on the unity, we maintained open communication via Slack to discuss what areas to improve. And I continued to create various objects, including items to fill the cafeteria space.
Tools: Unity, Microsoft Visual Studio, Miro, Github, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe 3d Substance Painter, Maya
The application was built for Oculus Quest 2 on Platform VR Chat.
